Daisy Pops: POPportunities Are Everywhere!
Nooked in the basement of her home in Kent, Ohio, Amy Mucha started making cake pops from a recipe book her mom gave her as a birthday gift. At the time, she was a high school math teacher and brought in sweet treats for her students to enjoy. Whether for birthdays, end-of-the-year parties, or parent-teacher conferences, the school community asked her when she would start selling her cake pops to the public. Before this, Amy always considered “popping” a hobby; not something that would ever escalate into a business.
Yet as interest grew and more POPportunities started to arise, Amy dabbled with selling her cake pops to those in her community. This decision was the beginning of a sweet journey and now her cake pops are some of the most POPular treats in Northeast Ohio. Whether working local farmers’ markets, wedding receptions, graduation parties, or deliveries to your home the word about these adorable desserts started spreading all across Akron and Cleveland.
Named after her daughter, Daisy Pops formed as a business oriented around supporting the community and creating delicious treats affordable for all families. For potential business owners Amy suggests, “Know the people in your area, customers, other businesses/owners and get advice from people ahead of you. Be prepared to put your heart and soul into your work. When people can see your passion for the product they are more likely to support it.” This mission statement is foundational to all the work the Daisy Pops team completes.
