The Menu (5 p.m. to close) features a dozen middle neck clams, a cup of clam chowder, rolls & honey butter, braised red skin potatoes, fall lemon poppy seed & apple slaw, half a roasted chicken, or a 12 oz strip steak. Clambakes became a custom in Northeast Ohio early in the last century when John D. Rockefeller and his friends discovered that clams could be iced and shipped overnight to Ohio by train. They began having clambakes for their friends and families, and soon a tradition was born. Gunselman's follows the original Rockefeller recipe for both the food and the social event. It's more than just ordering a meal, it's about gathering together and enjoying the fall weather.
