The Cleveland Silent Film Festival’s ongoing series "Cleveland Silent Film Festival at CPL: Celebrating 100 Years,” continues in April at the Louis Stokes Wing of the Cleveland Public Library, with the classic Alfred Hitchcock thriller BLACKMAIL (1929). Alice White (Anny Ondra), facing conflicts in her relationship with Detective Frank Webber (John Longdon), goes on a date with an alluring but dangerous artist (Cyril Ritchard), with catastrophic results. The film and score will be introduced by Daniel Goldmark, professor at Case Western Reserve University, and presented with a live compilation score performed by the five-piece ensemble the Cleveland Photoplayers, directed by Eric Charnofsky. Saturday, April 5, 2025, Louis Stokes Wing Auditorium, Cleveland Public Library, 525 Superior Ave, Cleveland, OH 44114, 4:30 PM. Free admission. Parking: Huntington Building Garage, 777 Rockwell and ABM Rockwell Garage are the nearest parking garages. Please note that street parking is free on the weekends!
