From the organizer:
On Friday, November 1st and Saturday, November 2nd, Lopez in Chagrin (506 Washington Avenue) will celebrate the Day of the Dead in a very special way. Not only will the restaurant honor the storied traditional Mexican holiday with a special event, but it will also serve as a closing celebration! Complete with a live mariachi band and special food offerings, Lopez is making sure this Dia de los Muertos will be a day to remember.
But death also brings new life, and this rings true for Lopez, as the next evolution of Lopez, Lopez 44, is slated to open later this fall on N Main Street.
“We’ve had a lot of great times a Lopez, and we’re very excited for Lopez 44, so there’s a lot to celebrate for us on the Day of the Dead,” said Brad Friedlander, owner of Lopez and the mind behind Lopez 44. “It’s very poetic for this location to end on the Day of the Dead. It’s going to be a very fun celebration, and we’re excited to have one last celebration at Lopez before we move on to Lopez 44.”
Curated by Executive Chef Christa Barnoski, the special Dia de los Muertos menu will include a taco station, street corn ribs, birria quesadillas, chicharrón with abodo aoli, and more. Many of the special menu items will carry over to Lopez 44, so the Day of the Dead celebration will give guests a taste of what’s to come.
Lopez is also very excited to host Mariachi Tapatío Band, who will perform from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, November 1st.
The Day of the Dead celebration will run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, November 1st and from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, November 2nd.
