An Overview of Ohio City
Located just west of Downtown Cleveland, Ohio City is home to some of the best spots Cleveland has to offer.

The West Side Market is a storied part of Cleveland’s History. Beginning as an open-air marketplace, the current structure located on the corner of W 25th and Lorain officially opened to the public in 1912. Today the market is home to over 100 vendors serving ethnically diverse food, meat, vegetables, and more! For an in-depth list of vendors located at the West Side Market, click here.
Also located in Ohio City is Great Lakes Brewing Company. Often credited for the resurgence of breweries in Cleveland, founders Pat and Dan Conway opened the brewery with the odds stacked against them. Today, Great Lakes is a staple of the Ohio City neighborhood and Cleveland in general. We highly recommend a visit to the brewpub where you can enjoy a meal crafted from some of the best local ingredients and a pint of GLBC brew. Our favorites change with the seasons, but you’ll definitely find us in line for Christmas Ale as soon as it’s first poured.
Ohio City is also home to Market Garden Brewery – which just completed a large-scale renovation of a 35,000 sqft production brewery offering weekend tours. Market Garden has 20+ beers on tap daily, all made on site. Market Garden also boasts a large food menu & weekend brunch.
Nano Brew – owned by famed Ohio City revivalist, Sam McNulty (who also owns Market Garden & Brightside), is a small Nano-brewery and one of our favorite craft beer stops in Cleveland. You can always count on Nano to have a great lineup of beers on tap & with plenty of indoor and outdoor space, you’ll be able to find a spot to enjoy them. We particularly enjoy the dog-friendly patio on summer days.
If you’re in need of something to do while you enjoy a few brews, Forest City Shuffleboard is the best spot in the area. Enjoy 5 indoor and 1 outdoor shuffleboard court as well as regulation tables. Shuffleboard is $7/hr per person and anyone can play!
Boasting a history in Cleveland longer than GLBC, is a specialty food shop, Hansa Import Haus. The shop popular with Eastern European immigrants carries a huge inventory of imported cheeses, meats, bread, and beers. A fact we can confirm, our grandparents were longtime patrons of the shop. In 2017, Hansa expanded its operations to include a 15-barrel brewery and restaurant specializing in European cuisine and an array of European-style beer aptly titled Hansa Brewery. Hansa provides a menu outside of the typical American Fare often served at breweries – which we love.
If you let us, we could write a novel about Mason’s Creamery. Home to some of the best (and most realistic) tasting flavored ice cream, Mason’s never disappoints our taste buds. Specializing in small batches you’ll often find flavors as diverse as, Taro, French Toast, Mocha Oreo, and Lavender Salted Caramel – to name a few. Masons converts to a Ramen Pop-up shop for the cold winter months in Cleveland.
