TCBL Encourages You to Vote

The best kind of voter is an informed voter! We encourage you to do your own research and pick candidates that believe in the issues you believe in. We’ve detailed our choices for the General Election Ballot November 8th, 2022 below, but understand that your choices may differ. We just want to encourage you to cast a vote and use your voice this year!

We’ve linked resources on Ballotpedia as we find the information to be unbiased and provide answers to which topics you might be interested in. Ballotpedia also lets candidates respond to questions pertaining who they are and what issues they support. Campaign social media and websites are also often linked, but you are welcome to do your own research as well.

Statewide Ballot Measures: There are two statewide issues on the ballot. We’ve detailed the issues below, but will not be providing our opinion.

Issue 1: Law enforcement and Civil and criminal trials

  • Requires Ohio judges to "use factors such as public safety, including the seriousness of the offense, and a person's criminal record" when setting amounts and conditions of bail.

    • A "yes" vote supports requiring courts to consider factors such as public safety, the seriousness of the offense, a person's criminal record, and a person's likelihood of returning to court when setting the amount of bail.

    • A "no" vote opposes requiring courts to consider factors such as public safety, the seriousness of the offense, a person's criminal record, and a person's likelihood of returning to court when setting the amount of bail.

Issue 2: Voting Policy Measures

  • Prohibits local governments from allowing persons who lack the qualifications of an elector to vote in local elections

    • A "yes" vote supports prohibiting local governments from allowing noncitizens or those who lack the qualifications of an elector to vote in local elections.

    • A "no" vote opposes prohibiting local governments from allowing noncitizens or those who lack the qualifications of an elector to vote in local elections.


Local Ballot Measures (Click here to view your county/city): There are two Cuyahoga County issues on the ballot. We’ve detailed the issues below, but will not be providing our opinion.

Cuyahoga County:

  1. Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority, Ohio, Issue 6, Property Tax Renewal Measure (November 2022):

    • A renewal of a tax for the benefit of the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority for the purpose of providing funds necessary for the Port Authority at a rate not exceeding 0.13 mill for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to 1.3 cents for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for five years, commencing in 2023, first due in calendar year 2024.

      • A "yes" vote supports continuing a property tax of $13 per $100,000 of assessed value for five years to provide funding for the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority.

      • A "no" vote opposes continuing a property tax of $13 per $100,000 of assessed value for five years to provide funding for the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority.

  2. Cleveland Metropolitan Park District, Ohio, Issue 5, Property Tax Measure (November 2022):

    • A replacement of a tax for the benefit of the Cleveland Metropolitan Parks District (known as Cleveland Metroparks including the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo) for the purpose of conserving the natural resources of the park district and maintaining, repairing, improving, planning, acquiring, developing, protecting and promoting the use of existing and future lands and facilities, and for any other lawful purpose of the park district at a rate not exceeding 2.7 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to 27 cents for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for ten years, commencing in 2022, first due in calendar year 2023. An existing levy of 2.7 mills, have one year remaining, will be canceled and replaced upon the passage of this levy.

      • A "yes" vote supports enacting a property tax of $27 per $100,000 of assessed value to provide funding for the Cleveland Metropolitan Parks District.

      • A "no" vote opposes enacting a property tax of $27 per $100,000 of assessed value to provide funding for the Cleveland Metropolitan Parks District.
